Course Intro: Students continue to develop their skills in printmaking by focusing on multiple-plate color printing, advanced intaglio and monoprint techniques, and multi-media stencil printing. Students create repeatable matrices, edition prints, and employ commercial printing methods.

The Objectives

Learning

This course explores relief, monotype, monoprint, intaglio, and stencil printmaking while connecting traditional techniques to modern commercial design. Students will research the historical evolution of graphic arts and apply core design principles to transfer images, hand-print, and operate an etching press. By creating unique monotypes and translating original fonts into relief prints, students will execute highly consistent printed editions while discovering the historical roots of contemporary digital and web technologies.
