Reading Railroad

Public Library

The Reading Railroad Public Library is a multi-level civic and educational facility proposed for 2000 Hamilton Street. Developed through comprehensive site analysis, precedent studies, bubble programming, and massing studies, the architecture bridges the area's industrial transit heritage with forward-looking community infrastructure.   The complex features a dynamic building profile with arched canopies, clerestory daylighting, and multi-tier rooflines. Inside, the program includes a sunlit, vaulted central reading room alongside a second-level café and mezzanine study areas. The exterior incorporates integrated public landscaping, designated outdoor play zones, and multi-directional access designed to activate the surrounding urban streetscape.
Modern multi-story building with a wider blue-tinted lower section featuring balconies and a taller upper section with a wavy, white façade, surrounded by trees and a few people walking on sidewalks in an urban setting.
